Hurricane forecasters expect Imelda impacts in US. Track the developing storm

A tropical depression could soon threaten parts of the U.S. southeastern coast as it heads northwest across the Atlantic on Sept. 28, potentially bringing heavy enough rain to trigger flash flooding, forecasters said.

The system is expected to strengthen into Tropical Storm Imelda by the evening and could briefly reach hurricane status early in the week before weakening again. The storm is likely to pass the southern coast of the U.S. early in the week, but it's still too soon to say just what track the storm will take and whether it will interact with still-strong Hurricane Humberto, currently a Category 4 storm.
